African Open Science Platform (concept)

The African Open Science Platform (AOSP) emerged from a 2016 CODATA-International Science Council pilot project funded by the South African National Research Foundation, and transitioned to phase II leadership by the African Academy of Sciences. AOSP's strategy emphasises data interoperability, FAIR data repositories serving African research priorities, training networks, and policy coherence among African Union member states. It is explicitly oriented around equity and African research sovereignty rather than serving as a node for Northern data flows.
