Global-South publishing

Global-South publishing emphasises scholarly knowledge production rooted in local research priorities, languages and community needs, often through diamond OA, community-led platforms and multilingual outputs. Notable infrastructures include SciELO, Redalyc, AmeliCA, AfricArXiv, the African Open Science Platform, the Asian Digital Library, and IndiaRxiv. Knowledge-equity work foregrounds the structural disadvantages these systems face: Northern indexing biases, English-language hegemony, citation cartography that under-represents non-Northern citations, and APC-driven OA mandates that disadvantage authors without funder support.
