EPrints (open-source repository)

EPrints · EPrints Services (University of Southampton)

EPrints is one of the earliest and most widely-deployed open-source repository platforms, originally developed at the University of Southampton and now supported by EPrints Services. It is used by universities worldwide to host open-access publications, theses, and research data, and has long been a backbone of green open-access in the UK. EPrints exposes metadata via OAI-PMH, supports ORCID, and is highly configurable, so the CASRAI Dictionary can supply contributor-role and output vocabulary for its deposit and export workflows.

What to use from CASRAI

Touchpoints

  • 01Configurable metadata schema — add CRediT contributor-role fields to the deposit workflow
  • 02ORCID support for author identity on creator / contributor fields
  • 03OAI-PMH endpoint exposes records (including contributor roles) to harvesters
  • 04DataCite / Crossref DOI plugins can carry CRediT roles in deposited metadata

Setup

Integration steps

  1. 1Extend the EPrints metadata schema to add CRediT contributor-role fields to the deposit form
  2. 2Enable ORCID support so creator and contributor records carry the persistent identifier
  3. 3Map CASRAI Dictionary contributor-role terms into the configured fields / option lists
  4. 4Expose the enriched contributor metadata through the OAI-PMH interface
  5. 5Where DOIs are registered, include CRediT roles in the DataCite / Crossref metadata
