Yes. Signed out, with no account and no card, you can ask 2 questions a day in the question box at the top of this page. They search the same sources and cite them the same way, but free questions run on free or low-cost models; a subscriber’s questions, except in Quick mode, go first to a higher-cost model and fall back to those only if it is unavailable. The subscription itself has no free trial: it is $29/month, month to month, and you cancel it yourself from your account page, with access running to the end of the month you paid for.

Answers draw on CASRAI's guides and dictionary plus the federal and funder documents we index: Federal Register, Grants.gov, Regulations.gov and UKRI. Every answer cites the passages it drew on, so you can read the source rather than take our word for it. When those sources do not cover a question, it may run a live web search instead — that answer is labelled as coming from the web, not from CASRAI’s sources, and lists the pages it used. If that search cannot run or finds nothing it can cite, it says so instead of guessing.

Yes, with a subscription. Create an API key at /account/api-keys (up to five per account) and follow the setup on /implement/mcp. Answers there run in standard mode and count against the same 150-a-day allowance; Deep and Agent stay on casrai.org. The dictionary, CRediT and NIKOLAI lookup tools need no key.

As topics, yes. CASRAI’s guides and dictionary cover NIH biosketches, NSF letters of collaboration, 2 CFR 200 cost allowability and the rest of grants administration. OMB’s amendments to 2 CFR 200 publish in the Federal Register, and we check for them every day. NIH’s own policy pages, including the NIH Guide for Grants & Contracts, are not among them.

No email to send, no notice period, no retention call.

CASRAI is a community-stewarded standards organisation. Its parent, The Health Initiative, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides CASRAI’s fiscal sponsorship, and it is the organisation that charges you. The payment form is headed “CASRAI Regulatory Radar”, but it may also show The Health Initiative’s logo, and the note beside the pay button names it. The line on your card statement may read “LAC HEALTH” or “CASRAI RADAR”; both are descriptors on that same organisation’s payment account. The same organisation throughout, not a third party.

Month to month in USD, $29.00 a charge, $348 over a year at this rate. No minimum term, no auto-escalation, no cancellation fee — you cancel it yourself from your account page and access runs to the end of the month you paid for. Every payment produces an itemised invoice, emailed to you, with the name and billing address you enter at checkout — which is what most offices need for an expense claim. No sales tax or VAT is added and we cannot record an institutional tax ID. A card issued outside the US applies its own exchange rate, so the reimbursed figure will not be exactly $29. There are no partial refunds. We do not run purchase orders or institutional invoicing; if you need either, write to [email protected] before you pay rather than after. Seats for a whole office are sold per seat at $25/seat/month on the institutions page.

Each answer is written from those documents, or from a live web search it labels as one, and cites what it drew on. Nothing you ask is used to train a model. The site itself does use measurement tags — Google Analytics, LinkedIn’s Insight Tag (an advertising-measurement tag that sets its own cookies) and our Mautic marketing analytics — to see which pages and campaigns bring visitors.

You can subscribe yourself: a card payment at $29/month, with no purchase order or procurement process involved. If colleagues need it too, there is a per-seat team subscription at $25/seat/month for 3–50 seats on the institutions page — one subscription, one invoice, and each person gets their own answers. Whether your institution reimburses a professional subscription is a question for your usual expense process.
