150MM Ceramic Buchner Funnel

in Buchner Funnels

$60.00

In stock

Glazed ceramic Buchner filtration funnel, 150 mm outside diameter, with a flat perforated filter plate and a tapered stem that seats into a stoppered filter flask. The glazed surface wipes down between runs and the ceramic body tolerates bench handling better than thin-walled glass. The listing covers the funnel alone.

Description

A 150 mm Buchner filtration funnel in glazed ceramic. The flat perforated plate supports a filter paper disc; vacuum applied to the receiving flask draws the filtrate through, and the tapered stem seats into a stopper or filter-flask adapter sized to your own flask neck.

Ceramic is used here for the same reason it is used for large Buchner funnels generally: the plate and body can be made thick-walled without the cost or fragility of a sintered-glass equivalent, and the glazed surface cleans down between runs.

Specification

  • Outside diameter: 150 mm
  • Construction: glazed ceramic throughout, including the perforated filter plate
  • Outlet: plain tapered stem, no ground-glass joint
  • SKU: 150CERFUNN

Filter paper, stoppers, adapters and the receiving flask are not part of this SKU. The same ceramic Buchner funnel is also listed at 200 mm and 250 mm.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 150 mm dimension refer to?+

150 mm is the outside diameter of the funnel body, as specified by the supplier. The perforated filter plate inside is smaller than the outside diameter, so size your filter paper to the plate rather than ordering 150 mm discs on the strength of the product name. Measure the plate on arrival before committing to a paper size.

What is supplied with the funnel?+

SKU 150CERFUNN covers the ceramic funnel on its own. No filter paper, stopper, adapter or receiving flask is listed as part of it. Order those separately against your own filter flask neck size.

What is it made of?+

Glazed ceramic throughout, including the perforated filter plate. There is no glass, plastic or elastomer component in the funnel itself, so there is no gasket or O-ring to replace.

How does it connect to a filter flask?+

Through a plain tapered stem. It is normally seated in a rubber or silicone stopper, or in a filter-flask adapter sized to the neck of your flask. There is no ground-glass joint on this funnel, so it will not mate directly to a standard-taper socket.

What other sizes are available?+

The same glazed ceramic Buchner funnel is listed at 150 mm, 200 mm and 250 mm. A larger plate gives more filtration area and therefore a faster run at a given vacuum, but needs a correspondingly larger receiving flask and stopper.
