What document templates are
Assembled documents, not single objects
A document template answers a different question than an object template. An object template defines the shape of one business object — an Award, a Person. A document template defines a whole assembled document — a full academic CV, a DMP ethics-review submission, an open-access APC payment report — built by combining several object fields, or by nesting other document templates inside it.
These 23 templates are retained from the legacy CASRAI Catalogue. Each template page shows exactly what it assembles: composite templates list the other templates they nest, and leaf templates list the specific object-template fields they draw from. Everything here is published under CC-BY 4.0.

- What is a document template?
A document template is a composite research-administration document — a CV, a data-management-plan ethics review, an open-access APC report, an outputs list — assembled from object-template fields and/or other document templates. Where an object template defines the shape of a single business object (an Award, a Person), a document template defines a whole assembled document made of several such objects.

- How do composite and leaf templates differ?
Composite templates (like CV – Full Academic) assemble several other document templates into one document. Leaf templates (like Contact Info) assemble specific fields directly from object templates. A template page shows which kind it is and lists exactly what it embeds.
- Are the document templates free to reuse?
Yes. Like the rest of the CASRAI Dictionary, document templates are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY 4.0).
