Description

Carbon Chemistry Silica Gel 60A is an insoluble silicon dioxide formed from sodium silicate, and comes in 200 to 400 mesh. The granular, porous solid occurs naturally in minerals and comes in a fine powder. The powder creates a slurry when mixed with solvent that helps filter unwanted materials for improved product quality. Once a slurry is created let the solvent drain, this will leave you with Silica Gel sitting evenly in the column. Silica Gel helps space out/separate the fractions of compounds being passed through the stationary phase. Silica Gel 60A is used during the stationary phase of Column Chromatography to improve color and separate unwanted compounds from the product.
