Description

Lab Armor Thermal Beads are dry, thermal metallic beads designed to replace water in any standard depth, non-circulating and non-shaking lab water bath. Beads can also be used to replace aluminum blocks in dry baths and ice in ice buckets. Beads are dry and naturally more resistant to microbial growth than water and therefore less likely to harbor and contribute to transmitting microorganisms in the laboratory.
Lab Armor Beads prevent distorted data and dangers resulting from inaccurate temperatures, evaporated lab water baths, and water-exposed contaminated samples. The Beads are designed to decrease microbial contamination that can ruin experiments or lead to safety issues in the laboratory.
Lab Armor Thermal Beads flow fluidly and can conform to all sizes and shapes of vessels placed within the bath. Vessels that are prone to tipping over or floating away no longer require racks, floats or bottleneck weights to secure them in place. Sample vessels can be conveniently buried into the beads to avoid temperature gradients associated with exposure to room temperature air. Bottles will rest on the surface and conical tubes will stay firmly in place in less than 1/2 inch of Beads.

Lab Armor® Beads, by their design, provide a concurrent thermal and antimicrobial activity that efficiently shields the lab and personnel from invading organisms while thermally heating or cooling like water in any standard water bath, heat block, or ice bucket.
Lab Armor Beads keep lab water baths dry and protected from water-borne microbial contaminants.
When you compare the cost of a lost set of experiments or even a few contaminated tubes of reagents and factor in the additional time spent on refilling the water bath, cleaning the water bath, and other expenses such as racks and bottleneck weights that you have to buy to go along with it, the difference in price between owning a Bead-filled water bath and a traditional water-filled bath clearly favors the Beads. And Lab Armor Beads are fully compatible with nearly all non-circulating, non-shallow, standard depth (>5″ deep) water baths. Lab Armor has evaluated the most popular, recent model water baths.

Why use a bead bath?
Thermal beads (in place of oil or water) reduce the dangers of fire, contamination, and lack of temperature control. They’re the perfect option for heating vessels in a constant, stable environment with a broad temperature range of -80°C to +180°C.
Traditional water or oil baths cannot retain heat for long, and they create condensation, which can not only be messy in the lab but can also cause bacterial growth.
Waterless laboratory bead baths reduce the chances of contamination, have a quick heat-up time, and provide much higher thermal retention than water. Plus, bead baths never evaporate which improves temperature performance and saves energy.
