Description

Relatherm SC is a fast-acting, emergency heat transfer system cleaner formulated to soften, dissolve, and remove hard carbon deposits and sludge from fouled thermal oil systems. Use it during emergency shutdowns or planned outages to restore heat transfer performance and efficiency by clearing fouling from wetted surfaces.
This potent cleaner is applied at a 100% system volume treat rate and is not a heat transfer fluid. It is low odor, safe to circulate to 65 °C (150 °F), and is designed to be followed by a dedicated flush with RelaFlush Fluid prior to refilling with new thermal oil.
Results are typically noticeable within hours, helping plants quickly recover heat transfer efficiency and reduce unplanned downtime.

Use appropriate PPE. Hot thermal fluids can cause burns. Not suitable for use as a heat transfer fluid.
Treat Rate: 100% System Volume Max Use Temp: 65 °C / 150 °F Low Odor / No Fumes Flush After: RelaFlush
Rapid restoration: Dissolves coke and sludge to recover heat transfer efficiency within hours.
Emergency-ready: Ideal for severely fouled systems during shutdowns or planned outages.
Straightforward use: Charge at 100% system volume, circulate to 65 °C (150 °F), then flush.

FAQ

How do I use Relatherm SC?

Drain existing thermal oil, install a mesh screen in the Y-strainer, charge Relatherm SC at 100% of system volume , allow a 1–3 hour soak, then heat and circulate at ~150 °F (65 °C) for 4–6 hours. Drain warm.
Do I need to flush after cleaning?

Yes. After draining the cleaner, flush with RelaFlush Fluid to remove residual contaminants before refilling with fresh heat transfer fluid.
Is Relatherm SC a heat transfer fluid?

No. Relatherm SC is a system cleaner only and should not be used as a heat transfer fluid.
What safety precautions are recommended?

Use appropriate PPE including heat-resistant gloves and face/eye protection. Hot thermal fluids can cause serious burns; follow your facility’s hot oil safety procedures.
What if my system is severely fouled?

Relatherm SC is designed for heavily fouled systems. You may repeat the clean/flush cycle if deposits persist, then validate flow and heat transfer before returning to service.
