Description
An ARO air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) fluid transfer pump, 1/2 in., in a polypropylene and Santoprene build. Choose the bare pump (PD05P-ARS-PAA-B) or the fully assembled kit (PD05P-ARS-PAA-B-KIT) on the product page.
An AODD pump has no motor and no rotating seal. Compressed air alternately pressurises two air chambers, the diaphragms displace fluid in the matching fluid chambers, and ball checks hold the flow one-way. That makes it self-priming, able to run dry without damage, and stallable against a closed discharge — the usual reasons it gets specified for solvent transfer and drum decanting. This model uses a lube-free differential air valve and a Simulshift pilot valve, so no in-line air lubricator is required.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the two options?+
"Pump only" (PD05P-ARS-PAA-B) is the bare ARO pump. "Fully assembled" (PD05P-ARS-PAA-B-KIT) adds the plumbing package already built up: two 1/2 in. compression ball valves, two 1/4 in. 316 stainless FNPT ball valves, a 3-way street tee, three street elbows, two hex nipple unions, Superlok tube connectors and hose-barb stubs, a 1/2 in. x 1/4 in. reducing tee, a 2 in. custom tube stub, a Norgren 1/4 in. regulator, a pressure gauge and a ColorConnex air connector.
What are the wetted materials?+
Polypropylene housings and check seats, with Santoprene diaphragms and balls. Check both against your fluid: Santoprene is a thermoplastic elastomer and polypropylene has its own solvent limits, so this build is not a universal-solvent pump. If you need broader chemical resistance, ask us about PTFE-diaphragm or stainless-body variants.
What air supply does it need?+
The air inlet is 1/4 in. FNPT and the maximum operating pressure is 100 psi. A compressor delivering 8 CFM or more is recommended. The air valve is lube-free, so an in-line air lubricator is not required.
What is the maximum flow rate and fluid temperature?+
14 GPM maximum flow and 150°F maximum fluid temperature. Flow on an AODD pump varies with supply air pressure and discharge head — 14 GPM is the ceiling, not the figure you should design a duty point around without checking the pump curve.
Will it self-prime, and can it run dry?+
It self-primes 10 ft dry and 15 ft wet. Air-operated double-diaphragm pumps can be run dry without damage and stalled against a closed discharge valve, which is why they suit intermittent transfer duties.
How large are solids allowed to be?+
3/32 in. maximum solids diameter, set by the ball check valves. Anything larger will jam the checks.
What are the pump's dimensions?+
13.75 in. long x 7.5 in. wide x 11.625 in. high. The assembled-kit option is larger once the valve manifold, regulator and gauge are fitted.
