Description
The FlatSpin is an ultra-flat compact magnetic stirrer standing just 15 mm tall. Its motorless inductive drive turns magnetic stir bars from 15 to 1500 RPM across a 90 mm work plate, handling volumes up to 0.8 L while occupying almost no bench space, and at 0.3 kg it moves anywhere and stores in a drawer.
With no rotating motor parts beneath the plate there is nothing in the drive to wear out, and the instrument runs quietly and without vibration. The chemical-resistant PET work plate and IP65 protection rating are there for real bench conditions, where spills and splashes happen.
Per the operating instructions: a long press of the power button switches the unit on or off. Pressing the mode button toggles reverse mode, which inverts the stirring direction every 15 seconds and blinks the function indicator while active; with reverse off, the direction stays constant. Speed is set in 10 RPM increments, and holding the speed button scans the setpoint continuously — the speed indicator flashes while the setpoint moves and stops flashing once the actual speed has reached it, or at either end of the range.
The manufacturer’s safety notes ask that the instrument be operated only by trained staff, kept away from strong magnetic fields, and installed so that liquid spillage is not possible.

Frequently asked questions
What volume can it stir, and what stir bar does it take?+
Up to 0.8 L of water-like liquid on a 90 mm (3.54") work plate, with a magnetic stir bar up to 40 mm long. It is a single-position stirrer.
What is the speed range and how is it set?+
15 to 1500 RPM, set by button in 10 RPM increments. Per the operating instructions, holding the speed button scans the setpoint continuously; the speed indicator flashes while it moves and stops flashing at either end of the range or once the actual speed has reached the setpoint.
How does auto-reverse work?+
With reverse mode on, the stirring direction inverts every 15 seconds and the function indicator blinks. With it off, the direction stays constant and the indicator stays lit. Alternating direction is what keeps a sample fully turned over without intervention.
What are the power requirements?+
100-120 V / 60 Hz, 3 W motor output, 5 W total. Permissible ambient temperature is 5-40 °C.
How does a motorless drive differ from a conventional stirrer?+
The drive is inductive, with no rotating motor parts under the plate. The manufacturer's stated consequences are silent, vibration-free operation and no rotating components to wear out. It also allows the whole instrument to be only 15 mm tall.
How well protected is it against spills?+
IP65 rated against dust and water jets, with a chemical-resistant PET work plate. The manufacturer's own safety note still asks that the instrument be operated so that liquid spillage is not possible, and that it be kept away from strong magnetic fields.
What are the dimensions and weight?+
175 x 120 x 15 mm (6.9" x 4.7" x 0.6"), 0.3 kg (0.66 lb).
