Shipping policy

Handling and dispatch

Typically 3–7 business days from PO acceptance; confirmed in writing at acceptance. Dispatch location depends on the item — goods ship from our own stock or direct from the manufacturer, all within the United States. The origin for your order is confirmed in writing when we accept it. Lead times are estimates confirmed in writing when we accept your order — they are not delivery-date guarantees, and we would rather state a range we can meet than a date we cannot.

Where an item is a special order brought in from a manufacturer for your purchase order, it is identified as such on your quotation before you commit, and its lead time is quoted separately.

Shipping cost and when freight is included

Shipping is quoted per order — we price the actual items and destination when we accept your order. Freight is prepaid and allowed — that is, included — on orders over $2,500. We do not add a handling surcharge on top of the carrier’s charge.

Below that threshold, freight and handling are not charged online. Nothing for shipping is added at checkout; we confirm the freight cost with you in writing before your order is dispatched, and you may cancel for a full refund at that point if it does not work for you.

Title and risk of loss pass on delivery to the destination on your purchase order (FOB Destination). If a shipment is lost or damaged in transit, that is ours to resolve, not yours.

Tax-exempt institutions: send your exemption certificate with your purchase order and sales tax will not be applied.

Parcel and freight are not the same thing

Oversized items — fume hoods, freezers, reactors, centrifuges, benches — ship by LTL freight, not parcel. Freight deliveries are kerbside by default and require someone available to receive and inspect the shipment. Liftgate service, inside delivery and appointment scheduling are available on request and quoted separately.

Chemicals, solvents and compressed gases

Chemicals and compressed gases are subject to carrier hazardous-materials rules. These items may ship by ground only, may require an adult signature, and cannot be delivered to every address. We will contact you before dispatch if a hazmat restriction affects your order.

Where we ship

We ship to the fifty United States and the District of Columbia. We do not currently ship to Puerto Rico, the US territories, or internationally.

Damaged or missing on arrival

Inspect every shipment when it arrives. For freight deliveries, note any visible damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt before signing — a clean signed receipt makes a freight claim very hard to win afterwards. Full detail, including the reporting window, is in our returns and refunds policy.
