FAQ

What are the key benefits of the Huber CS Series Recirculating Chillers?

The Huber CS Series Recirculating Chillers deliver water-saving, closed-loop cooling with quiet, maintenance-free operation and broad model coverage from CS 25 to CS 200 for loads up to 28 kW.
Do Huber CS Series models offer heating as well as cooling?

Yes. The Huber CS Series Recirculating Chillers with the “H” suffix (CS 50-H, CS 100-H, CS 200-H) include integrated heating capability up to approximately 5.5 kW with working temperatures to +85 °C.
How do I size a Huber CS Series Recirculating Chiller for my process?

Provide your heat load (kW), target outlet temperature, and allowable ΔT. Our team will recommend the appropriate Huber CS Series Recirculating Chiller and share performance curves for your conditions.
Which applications suit the Huber CS Series Recirculating Chillers?

The Huber CS Series Recirculating Chillers are commonly used for rotary evaporators, vacuum pumps, electron microscopy, AAS/ICP instruments, extraction, and distillation where stable, closed-loop cooling is required.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a CS model and a CS -H model?+

The -H variants (CS 50-H, CS 100-H, CS 200-H) add an integral heater and extend the working range from −20…+15 °C to −20…+85 °C. Heating power is 2.8 kW on the CS 50-H and 5.5 kW on both the CS 100-H and CS 200-H. Cooling performance is otherwise the same as the equivalent non-H model.

How much cooling does each model deliver?+

At 20 °C ambient: CS 25 3.5 kW, CS 35 4 kW, CS 50 and CS 50-H 8 kW, CS 100 and CS 100-H 18 kW, CS 200 and CS 200-H 28 kW. Capacity falls as the setpoint drops — the CS 25, for example, delivers 0.98 kW at −10 °C and 0.7 kW at −20 °C — and Huber notes that capacity may also drop as ambient temperature rises above 20 °C.

What electrical supply does each model need?+

The CS 25 and CS 35 run on 208 V 2~ 60 Hz. The CS 50, CS 50-H, CS 100 and CS 100-H are supplied for 208 V 3~ 60 Hz and are convertible to 460 V 3~ 60 Hz; only the CS 200 and CS 200-H are 460 V 3~ 60 Hz outright. Current draw ranges from 12.5 A on the CS 25 (2 × 20 A fusing) to 49 A on the CS 200-H (3 × 60 A fusing). Confirm available supply before selecting a model, as the step from CS 35 to CS 50 changes from two-phase to three-phase service.

What thermofluid should be used, and how much is needed?+

The Huber data sheets recommend a 50:50 water / monoethylene glycol mixture. Fill volumes scale with the model: the CS 25 takes a minimum of 24 litres and a maximum of 37 litres, while the CS 200-H takes a minimum of 225 litres and a maximum of 245 litres.

What is included with the chiller?+

Each data sheet lists two hose nozzles (Ø13 mm on the CS 25, Ø25 mm on the CS 200-H), a bath cover and a bypass valve. The bypass valve is mounted on the rear of the chiller and is how the flow rate is set manually. An overpressure bypass valve, drain valve, RS232 cable, hoses and heat transfer fluid are listed as optional.

What does the second purchase option change?+

The two options for each model differ only by a -UL suffix on the order number — VDH1100664 versus VDH1100664-UL on the CS 25, for example — at a $500 difference. The product data does not record what the suffix covers, so confirm the exact listing mark and file number with the supplier before citing it in an electrical-safety submission.
