Description

The LCS 80 is a special industrial chiller for use by researchers, laboratory technicians and scientists. It has an air-cooled chiller unit and a circulation pump. This chiller cannot fail to impress with its cooling output of 8 kW at – 40°C medium flow temperature. The housing has an open, atmospheric tank and a copper-brazed, stainless steel (V4A) evaporator. A digital filling level indicator warns if the medium level is too low. The condenser is suitable for outdoor operation and its output is optimised by the integral high-performance fan motor and microchannel technology. The chiller unit has a powerful feed pump with integral overtemperature protection. The manual bypass valve inside the chiller sets the flow.
The capacitive touch control with OLED display and multicoloured status indicator instantly show the current operating status and can be used as a remote control. Eight different system languages are available: DE, EN, ES, FR, IT, PT, RU, TR. The feed pump and chiller unit can be controlled separately, thus providing a convenient way of setting the required performance parameters. Operation of the system can be analysed over an integrated RS232 interface on a PC or notebook computer.

Frequently asked questions

What cooling capacity and temperature range does the LCS 80 deliver?+

The working range is −45 to 15 °C, with 8 kW of cooling at a −40 °C medium flow temperature and a stated temperature stability of ±0.01 °C. Maximum power consumption is 10.2 kW.

What electrical supply does it require?+

The specification records 400 V / 50 Hz / 3 PH / N / PE. That is a European supply, so a North American installation will need this checked against site power before ordering — confirm the voltage and frequency configuration for your order with the supplier rather than assuming a 60 Hz build.

How is fluid connected and how is flow set?+

Connection is a 1 in ball valve, with a feed pump rated at 1500 l/h at 3.3 bar and a maximum feed pressure of 4.2 bar. Flow through the process loop is set by a manual bypass valve inside the chiller. Tank capacity is 100 litres and a digital level indicator warns if the medium level falls too low.

Can the unit be installed outdoors?+

The condenser is described as suitable for outdoor operation, with output optimised by an integral high-performance fan motor and microchannel technology. That applies to the condenser specifically — the siting of the complete unit should still be reviewed against the manufacturer's installation notes.

What are the footprint and weight?+

2015 × 1100 × 2000 mm (80 × 44 × 79 in) and 880 kg (1940 lb). Sound pressure level is 77 dB(A), which is high enough that placement relative to occupied bench space is worth planning.

How is it operated and monitored?+

A capacitive touch control with an OLED display and a multi-colour status indicator shows the current operating state and can also be used as a remote control. Eight system languages are available (DE, EN, ES, FR, IT, PT, RU, TR). The feed pump and the refrigeration unit are controlled separately, and operation can be analysed on a PC over the integrated RS232 interface.
