Institutional membership
Membership inquiries
For institutions considering CASRAI membership — universities, publishers, infrastructure providers. The address routes to the membership secretary.
Membership is institutional, not individual. The address is [email protected] and routes to the membership secretary on the editorial board.
Brief process overview
- One-page expression of interest. Name your institution, the membership tier you believe applies (universities, publishers, or infrastructure providers — full descriptions at /get-involved/membership), and the staff member who would act as primary contact.
- Tier confirmation. The membership secretary confirms the tier and shares the current participation agreement. There is no application fee.
- Sign-off. Once the agreement is signed, your institution is added to the public membership register and your nominated contact receives onboarding materials, including federation-briefing access and the working-group nomination process.
- Onboarding. The membership secretary schedules a 30-minute onboarding call to walk through editorial-board liaison, working-group nominations, and the quarterly federation briefing.
What membership includes
Editorial voice in the working groups appropriate to your tier, pre-publication access to dictionary releases, the quarterly federation briefing covering activity at NISO, euroCRIS, and CODATA, and a listing on the public membership register. Detailed tier descriptions sit at /get-involved/membership.
What membership is not
Not a paywall — dictionary content is and remains CC-BY 4.0 for everyone. Not an endorsement transaction. Not required for working-group participation — anyone qualified can join a working group without an institutional membership; see /get-involved/working-groups.
