NIKOLAI

File a Mapping Declaration

Every crosswalk row on NIKOLAI is labelled a shadow mapping — CASRAI's own unconfirmed reading of your organisation's published document. This is how that changes.

What a Mapping Declaration does

If you represent a named organisation NIKOLAI has crosswalked — a lab, a government regulator, or a recognised third-party evaluator — you can file an official statement confirming a shadow mapping is accurate, disputing one that isn't, or adding a mapping NIKOLAI missed. Once a CASRAI editor approves it, the crosswalk row stops being a shadow mapping and is labelled as your organisation's own declared position.

Two things are true at once

  • Creating an account is fast. Sign up with an email at your organisation's own domain and you can start drafting a declaration immediately.
  • Publishing a declaration is never instant, for anyone. Every declaration — from a lab, a regulator, or an evaluator — is reviewed by a CASRAI editor before it goes live. A false organisational attribution published with no human check is exactly what the shadow-mapping system exists to prevent, so that check applies uniformly.

Evaluators specifically

If your organisation is listed as an evaluator (for example, a body already named under NIKOLAI's evaluator-independence element), your account additionally requires manual acceptance by a CASRAI editor after email verification, before you can submit anything — evaluators are held to a higher bar than an organisation describing its own framework.

What you'll need

An email address at your organisation's own domain, the specific NIKOLAI element your declaration concerns, and — for a dispute or a new mapping — a citation to a real published document supporting it. A plain confirmation of an existing shadow mapping doesn't need a new citation.
