Editorial commentary

The Singapore Statement articulates four principles (honesty, accountability, professional courtesy and fairness in working with others, good stewardship of research on behalf of others) and fourteen responsibilities (covering integrity, adherence to regulations, research methods, research records, research findings, authorship, publication acknowledgement, peer review, conflict of interest, public communication, reporting misconduct, responding to misconduct claims, research environments, and societal considerations). It has no signatory mechanism but is widely adopted as a reference document by institutions and funders.
