General product information only, not medical advice. Which mask a child or adult should use is a decision for their prescriber or pharmacist.
The AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu holding chamber is sold with four mask sizes: infant small (0-18 months), child medium (1-5 years), adult small and adult large. The chart below lists them as the manufacturer, Trudell Medical, publishes them, so you can match a mask to the label on the product in front of you.
AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu mask size chart
| Mask size (label) | Age band printed by the manufacturer | Colour shown by the manufacturer |
|---|---|---|
| Infant Small Mask | 0-18 months | Orange |
| Child Medium Mask | 1-5 years | Yellow |
| Adult Small Mask | Adults with smaller facial structures (no age range given) | Purple |
| Adult Large Mask | Adults with larger facial structures (no age range given) | Blue |

No external standard assigns these colours, so they identify one brand’s parts and mean nothing on another maker’s device.
Check your product’s labelling: the size name and age band printed on the mask, the packaging or the instructions for use is the authority for the product you hold.
How to read the chart
The age bands are the manufacturer’s, and they overlap between 1 year and 18 months: the infant small band runs to 18 months and the child medium band starts at 1 year. The manufacturer’s published sizing information does not say which label applies in that overlap, so the printed labelling and the prescriber or pharmacist are the reference.
The manufacturer lists no face measurements, millimetre dimensions or weight limits for these masks, so none are given here. The sizes are defined by age band and by the adult descriptions above.
Mask and mouthpiece versions
- The Flow-Vu is also sold with a youth mouthpiece (5 and over), shown in green, and an adult mouthpiece, shown in blue.
- The Flow-Vu has a flow indicator that the manufacturer describes as moving only when there is a proper seal.
Equivalence notes
Retailers often use their own labels such as small, medium and large, or their own age ranges. Treat the manufacturer’s age band as the reference, because retailer wording is not the product’s labelling. Masks in this family are labelled by age band, not by gauge or French size, so there is no conversion to millimetres to make.
Common mix-ups
- Colour match is not a size guarantee. Orange, yellow, purple and blue identify the Flow-Vu mask names above; they carry no meaning on other devices.
- Other AeroChamber products have their own labelling. The AeroChamber2Go is a separate product from Trudell Medical. If your chamber has a different name on the box, read its own instructions for use.
- Age ranges differ between sellers. Third-party size-chart pages sometimes print an age range that differs from the manufacturer’s. The manufacturer’s printed bands are the ones above.
- Mask and mouthpiece are different parts. The 5 and over entry in the instructions for use covers the mouthpiece versions.
Frequently asked questions
What are the AeroChamber sizes?
The Flow-Vu is sold with infant small (0-18 months), child medium (1-5 years), adult small and adult large masks, plus youth (5 and over) and adult mouthpieces, according to Trudell Medical.
What is the AeroChamber mask size chart by age?
Infant small is labelled 0-18 months and child medium 1-5 years. The adult small and adult large masks carry no age range and are described by facial structure. See the table above.
Which AeroChamber mask size is labelled for a 1-year-old?
The manufacturer’s bands put age 1 inside both the infant small (0-18 months) and child medium (1-5 years) ranges, so the printed labelling and the prescriber or pharmacist are the reference.
Is there an AeroChamber sizing guide with measurements?
Not from the manufacturer. Trudell Medical publishes age bands and adult facial-structure descriptions, not measurements.
What colour is each AeroChamber mask?
On the Flow-Vu product images, infant small is orange, child medium is yellow, adult small is purple and adult large is blue.
How long does the chamber last?
The Flow-Vu instructions for use (Canada, 103077-001 Rev B) say to replace the device after 12 months of use. They also say it is latex-free and not to be shared between people.
