Eight months of declared parental leave extending an ECR's eligibility window by eight months

- Not an instance
A six-week summer holiday is not a career break in the funder sense
Editorial commentary
Funders’ rules differ on what counts: UKRI permits any documented break to extend the ECR window; ERC explicitly enumerates eligible breaks. Career breaks should be declared on narrative CVs as a contextual factor; failure to recognise them produces unfair comparison of outputs across uneven actual time-in-research.
