Editorial commentary
Templates organise required and recommended topics (e.g., data description, FAIR-enabling practices, ethics, storage, preservation, sharing, responsibilities) into question sections. In DMP tools, templates can be encoded so that the same underlying questions can be presented under different funder labels and exported into the funder's required structure.
