Editorial commentary
Figshare was founded in 2011 and is one of the principal generalist research repositories. The public figshare.com service is free for individual researchers; the Figshare for Institutions product allows universities to provide branded deposit services to their researchers with quota management, mediated curation, and integration with institutional CRIS and IR systems. Figshare uses DataCite DOIs and supports embargoed and confidential deposits in addition to open ones.
