Editorial commentary
ORCID separates Education (formal degree-granting studies) from Qualifications (other formal credentials such as professional certifications) and from Employment. As with employment, education assertions can be self-claimed or asserted by a trusted-organisation source (often a registrar or doctoral school). Linking an education item to a ROR ID for the awarding institution is now standard practice.
