Editorial commentary
RIM is the broader term that contains the CRIS as one component. RIM also includes data governance, business processes (publication harvesting workflows, researcher-CV update cycles, REF/ERA submission preparation), integrations with HR and finance, stakeholder reporting, and bibliometric services. Where CRIS denotes the software system, RIM denotes the function. The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and OCLC have published landscape studies of RIM practice across countries.
