Editorial commentary
Subtasks (e.g., T3.2.1) provide the finest level of project-management granularity in most research project plans. They are used by work-package leaders and partners to plan day-to-day execution, allocate effort across the team, and produce internal Gantt charts. Subtasks are usually invisible to the funder but visible in internal collaboration tools (project wikis, Jira boards, Notion). Subtask discipline is a hallmark of well-managed projects.
