Is arXiv or bioRxiv peer reviewed?+
Neither. Both are preprint servers hosting non-peer-reviewed manuscript versions, screened for scope and scientific character (and, for bioRxiv, biosecurity/ethics risk) but not for correctness. Peer review happens afterward, if at all, at a journal the author separately submits to.
Do I need an endorsement to post to bioRxiv the way I do for arXiv?+
No. bioRxiv does not use arXiv's endorsement system; it relies on its own moderator screening of each submission rather than requiring an existing author to vouch for a first-time submitter.
Can the same paper go on both arXiv and bioRxiv?+
In practice authors choose the server matching their field rather than cross-posting the same manuscript to both, since each is scoped to a different subject area and funders/journals generally expect one canonical preprint record.
