Editorial commentary
In computer science and engineering, peer-reviewed conference papers (e.g., NeurIPS, ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE conferences) carry weight equivalent to or greater than journal articles. In life sciences, proceedings are typically less prestigious than journal articles. The format spans full papers, short papers, and posters with abstracts.
