Editorial commentary
Consortia are the predominant ORCID membership model in higher-education-dense regions: a national research-information body (e.g. Jisc in the UK, CRKN in Canada, DEFF in Denmark) signs the consortium agreement with ORCID and recruits institutional members under that umbrella. Members get Member-API access at a lower marginal cost than direct individual membership. The consortium lead is the contractual party with ORCID Inc.
