Editorial commentary
Preservation commitments are typically made dataset-by-dataset and tied to repository selection (re3data IDs in maDMPs), retention period, and any conditions on access. They are the principal mechanism by which DMPs operationalise long-term FAIR commitments to funders and to future researchers.
