Editorial commentary

Process diversity broadens 'what counts' from outputs to activities. The Hong Kong Principles' fourth principle ('acknowledge a broad range of research activities such as peer review and mentoring') is the most explicit articulation. R4RI/narrative CVs are practical implementations: module 'development of others' captures mentoring; module 'wider research community' captures peer review, editorial work and community service. CoARA Commitment 4 likewise embraces process diversity. Implementing it requires reviewers to weight non-output contributions concretely rather than treating them as 'nice to have'.
