Editorial commentary
R4RI was launched as a voluntary alternative in 2019, adopted by UKRI as mandatory across grant applications from 2022 onward, replacing traditional publication-list CVs. It explicitly excludes metrics-only listings and is part of the DORA-aligned shift toward responsible research assessment.
