Editorial commentary

Scientific rigour is the umbrella concept invoked in the NIH Rigor and Reproducibility policy and analogous funder statements. It encompasses sample-size justification, randomisation, blinding, statistical pre-specification, and transparent reporting. Rigour is the input; reproducibility is one observable output.
