Editorial commentary

Indigenous Data Governance is the operational expression of Indigenous Data Sovereignty. It encompasses community-led governance bodies, data agreements, ethical review processes, technical infrastructure choices, and the embedding of Indigenous values and protocols in data practice. Governance structures vary across communities, nations, and regions and are appropriately determined by the relevant Indigenous Peoples themselves. Respect for these governance arrangements is a core element of the CARE Principles.
