Is this an emergency?

This is not an emergency service. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you have:

  • New confusion, or drowsiness that makes someone hard to wake

Guaynabo's 24-hour ER: Professional Hospital

In an emergency call 911. None of these ERs is affiliated with us.

Professional Hospital Guaynabo: 8 Ave. Las Cumbres, Guaynabo. Phone 787-740-8787. Its site says it treats "all kinds of emergencies 24 hours a day, every day", with emergency-medicine specialists and advanced imaging. We could not confirm a pediatric ER: with a child, call first or use one of the pediatric ERs below.

Hospital Metropolitano: Carr. 21 #1785, Las Lomas, San Juan, PR 00921, just over the line. Phone 787-782-9999. On Metro Pavia's 24/7 adult ER list and its pediatric ER list. People often call it "Metropolitano Guaynabo", but there is no other Metropolitano inside Guaynabo: it is this one, on the San Juan side.

Is there urgent care in Guaynabo that closes at night?

We found no urgent care center or CDT in Guaynabo with an address and hours published at a primary source, so we list none. Plenty of places advertise as a "sala de emergencia" without being open overnight: before you go, call and ask how late they see patients. 24-hour pharmacy in Guaynabo: the Walgreens counter at 2505 Carr 841

Only five pharmacy counters in Puerto Rico are open 24 hours, all Walgreens. For much of San Juan, Guaynabo's is the closest:

Walgreens, 2505 Carr 841, Guaynabo, PR 00969, at the corner of Ave. Venus, 787-287-0528. Store and pharmacy counter: 24 hours; the counter closes 1:30–2 a.m. for a meal break. The Walgreens locator puts it 3.6 miles from Río Piedras and 4.8 from Bayamón.

Guaynabo counters open late but not overnight (counter hours, not store hours):

  • Walgreens, 35 Calle Juan C. Borbón, at Ave. Las Cumbres, PR 00969, 787-287-3725. Store: 6 a.m.–midnight. Pharmacy counter: daily 7 a.m.–11 p.m. It is on the same avenue as Professional Hospital.

Sick at night in Guaynabo

Guaynabo has what most of the island lacks: a pharmacy counter that never closes. After dark, work through it in this order:

  1. Is it an emergency? Chest pain, shortness of breath, facial droop, or a fall with a head injury in an older adult, especially one on blood thinners: call 911. Professional Hospital is open 24 hours.
  2. Need a prescription filled before 11 p.m.? The Walgreens counter on Calle Juan C. Borbón (Las Cumbres) is open until then every day.
  3. Later than that? Walgreens, 2505 Carr 841, fills prescriptions all night except 1:30–2 a.m. Call ahead to check they have your medication.

Torrimar, Caparra and Las Cumbres: telehealth for older parents

Search results for "doctor Guaynabo" are mostly national directories full of surgeons. What many households here need is simpler. Guaynabo had 89,405 residents in 2024, and 27.3% are 65 or older, the highest share of any metro-area municipio per the Census Bureau. The Tren Urbano has two Guaynabo stations, Torrimar and Jardines, on the line from Bayamón through Centro Médico to Hato Rey.

For stable high blood pressure, diabetes or cholesterol, the doctor can do follow-up by video and, when needed, lab orders. A relative can help with the camera; a patient 21 or older decides who is present.

Dengue in Guaynabo: 30 cases in 2026

The Puerto Rico Department of Health's weekly report for week 37 (published September 23, 2026) counts 30 dengue cases in Guaynabo in weeks 1–37, about 33.6 per 100,000 residents, close to three times San Juan's rate (12.3). Can a doctor come to the house to see my mother in Guaynabo?
No. We do not make house calls; we see patients by video only. If your mother is in Puerto Rico, the doctor can see her by video at home and follow up stable conditions, and you can help with the camera. Chest pain, new confusion or a fall with a head injury mean 911.
How much is a doctor visit without insurance in Guaynabo?
