Doctor in Aguadilla by Video: ERs, Pharmacies and Beach Safety

If you need a doctor in Aguadilla, the verified hospital ER is Hospital Buen Samaritano on Route PR-460, with a separate pediatric ER. No pharmacy counter in Aguadilla is open overnight: the latest closes at 8 p.m., and the nearest 24-hour one is in Ponce. In an emergency call 911. These are the hospital ERs we verified for Aguadilla, Ramey, Punta Borinquen and neighboring Moca. None is affiliated with us.

  • Hospital Buen Samaritano (nonprofit), Carr. Est. PR-460 Km 0.2, Bo. Caimital Bajo, Aguadilla, PR 00603. Phone 787-658-0000, ER ext. 1031 or 1014. It has an adult ER and a separate pediatric ER, each with its own list of emergency physicians. Unconfirmed: its pages do not say whether either is open around the clock. Call first if it is not serious.
  • Hospital San Carlos Borromeo, Moca: Calle Concepción Vera Ayala #550 S (Route 110). Phone 787-877-8000. Federal hospital data (CMS) lists an ER; its hours are not published. A complaint reported by Metro in July 2026 included patients describing long waits there.
  • For major trauma or critical illness, the 911 ambulance crew decides which hospital to use.

Urgent care in Aguadilla: what closes in the daytime

We could not verify any urgent care center or CDT in Aguadilla with published hours from a primary source, so we list none. The nearest place with verified hours is a community health center, not urgent care: Costa Salud Moca, Calle Calazán Lasalle #124, Moca, 787-818-5500, open Monday to Friday only, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. At night and on weekends, the verified option is the Buen Samaritano ER or 911. Is there a 24-hour pharmacy in Aguadilla?

Not a 24-hour pharmacy counter. There is none anywhere on the west coast; Puerto Rico's five are all Walgreens, in Guaynabo, Bayamón, Caguas, Cayey and Ponce. Store hours versus counter hours, from each store's page:

  • Walgreens, 16000 Carr 2, at Ave. Juan "Yuyo" Santos, Aguadilla, 787-882-8044. Store: 24 hours. Pharmacy counter: Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; closed 1:30–2 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday.

Sick at night in Aguadilla

In Aguadilla no pharmacy counter is open after 8 p.m. Work through it in this order:

  1. Is it an emergency? Someone pulled from the water who is coughing or short of breath, a hard surf wipeout, chest pain or a very listless child: call 911 or go to Buen Samaritano, which has a separate pediatric ER.
  2. Need something over the counter? The Walgreens store at Carr 2 and Ave. Juan "Yuyo" Santos is open 24 hours; the one at Carr 2 and PR-107 until 11 p.m.
  3. Need a prescription filled tonight? The only counter open overnight is in Ponce. If it can wait, Aguadilla counters open at 8 a.m. on weekdays.
  4. Sunday afternoon? The latest counter is Walgreens, 17705 Carr 2, until 6 p.m.; the one at 16000 Carr 2 closes at 2 p.m.

Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN): the former Ramey base

Aguadilla's airport sits on the former Ramey Air Force Base, which closed between 1971 and 1973, and its 11,702-foot runway is described as the longest in the Caribbean. It is run by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority, which says it handles cargo and passenger flights, is a free-trade zone, and hosts U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Coast Guard and the USDA. Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen has operated there since 1976, flying MH-65D helicopters for search and rescue.

Airlines listed as of September 2026 (secondary source; confirm with your airline): JetBlue (Fort Lauderdale, New York-JFK, Orlando), Frontier (Orlando), United (Newark) and Avelo (Lakeland and New Haven, from November 2026). We found no official information on medical or first-aid services in the terminal: if someone falls ill there, tell airport staff and call 911. Beaches and surf: Crash Boat, Rompeolas and the Ramey coast

Crash Boat, Rompeolas and the Ramey beaches draw swimmers and surfers. Rip-current risk and wave size change daily, so check the National Weather Service beach forecast before you paddle out.

  • Swimmer's ear. The CDC describes it as a bacterial infection that children get more easily. Dry your ears after swimming and leave earwax alone. Pain or drainage deserves a look, which can often be done by video. See swimmer's ear.
  • Sea urchin spines. The Merck Manual says vinegar soaks dissolve most spines and hot water eases the pain; deeply embedded spines may need surgical removal.
  • Coral cuts. We found no reputable source with coral-specific first aid. A cut that turns red, hot, swollen or starts draining should be seen.

Isabela, Rincón and Aguada: what is nearby

We have not published a separate guide for these towns because we could not confirm their ER hours. Here is what we did verify, and what we did not:

  • Costa Salud, Rincón: Calle Muñoz Rivera #28, Rincón, PR 00677. Phone 787-823-5500 and 787-656-6000. Its site says the ER is open every day; we could not confirm it is open 24 hours. Call first.
  • Costa Salud, Aguada: Calle Colón #106, 787-252-5500. A community health center with no ER.
  • Isabela: we could not confirm a 24-hour ER in town. From Isabela and Aguada, the nearest verified hospital is Buen Samaritano; from Rincón, the ERs in Mayagüez.
  • Walgreens Isabela, 3480 Ave Militar (PR-2 and PR-4494), 787-872-0502. Store: 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Counter: Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • There is no Walgreens in Rincón, Aguada or Moca. From Rincón the nearest is in Añasco, Hacienda Shopping Center (PR-2 and PR-402), 5.3 miles per the locator, 787-826-1090. Counter: Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; closed Sunday.

Rincón grew more than any other town in this area between 2020 and 2024 (+2.9%), and it has the oldest population: 29.5% are 65 or older, per the Census Bureau.

Dengue in the northwest: no Aguadilla cases in 2026

The Puerto Rico Department of Health's weekly report for week 37 (published September 23, 2026) shows no dengue cases in Aguadilla in weeks 1–37 of 2026; Moca reported 1, Aguada 6, Isabela 2 and Rincón none. The Aguadilla health region totals 11 cases, against 922 island-wide. Few cases does not mean no dengue: use repellent and learn the dengue warning signs.

Not a 24-hour pharmacy counter. The Walgreens store at 16000 Carr 2 is open all night, but its counter closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. The nearest 24-hour counter is Walgreens, 2979 Ave Emilio Fagot in Ponce, 46.2 miles away per the locator.
Where is the nearest ER to Rincón?
In town, Costa Salud runs an ER at Calle Muñoz Rivera #28 (787-656-6000) that its site says is open every day; we could not confirm it is open 24 hours. The nearest verified hospital ERs are in Mayagüez and, to the north, Buen Samaritano in Aguadilla. In an emergency, call 911.
Can a doctor come to my hotel or rental in Aguadilla?
