See a Doctor in Humacao and Palmas del Mar by Video: Which ERs Are Still Open

Salus Urgent Care Humacao, Boulevard del Río, 787-656-2727. Hours: Monday 8 a.m.–8 p.m.; Tuesday–Sunday 8 a.m.–6 p.m. It is an urgent care center, not a hospital ER, and it closes at night: most days at 6 p.m.

After that, the verified options are Ryder, Menonita Humacao or 911; for anything that is not an emergency, the doctor can see you by video. If you are unsure what you need, read where to go when you are sick.

Once Salus closes, Humacao has two hospital ERs and, until 10 p.m., one open pharmacy counter. Work through it in this order:

Dr. Diana Nieves Castro, MD, is a general practice physician licensed in Puerto Rico, with several years of emergency-department experience. She sees adults and children of all ages by video, in English or Spanish. She evaluates, diagnoses and treats; if needed, she gives you a lab order for a lab near you, such as a strep, urine or blood test. If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to your pharmacy. Palmas del Mar or the town center, Humacao is covered by our telehealth across Puerto Rico.

We send you a secure video link; it works on your phone, tablet or computer. You just need to be in Puerto Rico during the visit. Anyone under 21 needs a parent or legal guardian on the video, with ID. Your card is charged when you request the visit, with a full refund if the clinic can’t see you, and a doctor's note after the visit is included.

Palmas del Mar is a resort and residential community of about 2,750 acres in Humacao municipality, with more than 25 neighborhoods, a marina, a beach club and two golf courses (Wikipedia, a secondary source). We verified no ER, urgent care or pharmacy counter inside the community: the nearest are the ones on this page, in town. In an emergency, call 911 and give the neighborhood and street name.

From July 15, 2026, Hospital Ryder was without grid power and kept its critical areas running on generators; on July 21 it had been seven days, Metro reported. For Humacao residents it is a reminder that a long outage affects your health at home too.

Hurricane María made landfall near Yabucoa on September 20, 2017. The National Hurricane Center measured a 6–9 ft storm surge on the Humacao, Naguabo and Ceiba coasts, 5.1 ft of water inside buildings at Punta Santiago, and a pressure of 929.4 mb at Palmas del Mar.

Keep a written list of your medications and doses, a few weeks' supply, and a plan for anything that needs refrigeration. The FDA says that in an emergency insulin can be kept unrefrigerated, between 59 °F and 86 °F, for up to 28 days. If you run a generator, keep it outside: the CDC warns about carbon monoxide. According to the Puerto Rico Department of Health's weekly report for week 37 (published September 23, 2026, the latest on September 30), Humacao reported 41 dengue cases in weeks 1–37 of 2026, 4.45% of the island's 922 cases and the same count as San Juan. The CDC says warning signs usually appear as the fever goes away: belly pain, repeated vomiting, or bleeding from the nose or gums, and they mean the ER.
