  • Bayamón Medical Center (adults): Carr. 2 Km 11.7, Bayamón, PR 00959. Phone 787-620-8181. Advertises an adult ER open "24/7, 365 days".
  • Puerto Rico Children's Hospital (children): at the same PR-2 Km 11.7, Bayamón, PR 00959. Phone 787-474-8282. Its site says it provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that a child must be accompanied at all times by a parent or authorized representative.
  • Auxilio San Pablo (formerly HIMA San Pablo Bayamón): 70 Calle Santa Cruz, Urb. Santa Cruz. Phone 787-620-4747. Part of Auxilio Mutuo since 2023, per its site, which mentions an ER but not its hours. Many maps still say "HIMA".
  • Hospital Universitario Dr. Ramón Ruiz Arnau (HURRA): 100 Ave. Laurel, Santa Juanita. Phone 787-787-5151. ER per CMS; hours not published.
  • Doctors' Center Hospital Bayamón: Calle J #9, Urb. Hermanas Dávila, PR 00960. Phone 787-622-5420. ER per CMS; its official listing gives only visiting hours.

Is there 24-hour urgent care in Bayamón?

We could not confirm, from a primary source, any urgent care center or CDT in Bayamón or Cataño with published hours, day or night. Cataño has a CDT, but we could not verify that it is open or its hours, so we do not publish its details. Closer to Levittown or Toa Alta? 24-hour pharmacy in Bayamón: Walgreens, 4699 Route 5

Only five pharmacy counters in Puerto Rico are open 24 hours, all Walgreens. Bayamón's is:

Walgreens, 4699 RR 5, Bayamón, PR 00956, by PR-167, 787-799-4699. Store and pharmacy counter: 24 hours, with the counter closed 1:30–2 a.m. for a meal break. The Walgreens locator puts it 2 miles from central Bayamón; the next nearest is 2505 Carr 841 in Guaynabo, 4.8 miles away.

Cataño: the ferry, Juana Matos and where to get care

Cataño has no hospital; residents use the Bayamón ERs, and the nearest Walgreens is on Ave Río Hondo. The town had 21,971 residents in 2024, 5.1% fewer than in 2020, per the Census Bureau.

The Cataño ferry, running since 1853, crosses the bay to Old San Juan in about five minutes; plenty of people commute on it, and a video visit works from either side of the water. Hurricane María destroyed or flooded an estimated 650 homes in Cataño, and about 80% of homes in Juana Matos were destroyed (per Wikipedia). Sick at night in Bayamón or Cataño

Bayamón is one of the few towns with a pharmacy counter open all night. After dark, work through it in this order:

  1. Is it an emergency? Chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke signs, or fever with bleeding: call 911. Bayamón Medical Center sees adults 24 hours.
  2. A very sick child? Puerto Rico Children's Hospital at PR-2 Km 11.7 is open around the clock. A parent or authorized representative must stay with the child throughout. For minor problems, see video visits for children.
  3. Need a prescription filled tonight? The counter at Walgreens, 4699 RR 5, is open all night except 1:30–2 a.m. From Cataño, the Ave Río Hondo counter closes at 10 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on weekends.

Dengue: Bayamón has the third-most cases in 2026

The Puerto Rico Department of Health's weekly report for week 37 (published September 23, 2026) counts 78 dengue cases in Bayamón in weeks 1–37 (43.1 per 100,000), the third-highest count on the island. Cataño reported 14, but with its smaller population its rate is even higher, 63.7 per 100,000. The Bayamón health region totals 171, and one of the island's four dengue-associated deaths this year was in that region: a 43-year-old man, in March, with serotype DENV-3. Can a doctor come to my home in Bayamón?
