Doctor online in Cayey, Puerto Rico: video and a prescription at any hour
Almost everywhere on the island, a prescription written at night waits until morning because the counter has closed. Not in Cayey: the Walgreens counter on Ave. Jesús T. Piñero is open 24 hours and closes only 1:30–2 a.m. for a staff meal break. It is one of just five in Puerto Rico; the others are in Guaynabo, Bayamón, Caguas and Ponce.
For anything that is not an emergency, such as a UTI, a cold with fever, pink eye or a skin flare, the doctor sees you by video from home: no driving or parking, you skip the waiting room, and the price is clear before you book. If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to the pharmacy you choose, including the 24-hour one. Book a video visit from Cayey, US$79.

Hospital Menonita de Cayey: adult and pediatric ERs
In an emergency call 911. These hospitals are not part of our service.
Hospital Menonita de Cayey, Carr 14 Km 3.1, Bo. Rincón, Sector Las Lomas, Cayey. Phone 787-535-1001. Its page lists an adult ER (Sala de Emergencias Adultos) and a separate pediatric ER (Sala de Emergencia Pediátrica). It does not publish ER hours, so we do not state any; call first if it is not serious.
The same hospital lists labor and delivery rooms and a neonatal care unit, plus pediatric and adult intensive care. If you are pregnant and have bleeding or leaking fluid, severe belly pain that does not go away or the baby is moving less, the CDC says to get care right away: call 911 or go to the hospital.
Other Menonita hospitals in CMS data: Hospital Menonita de Aibonito, about 7 miles in a straight line, and Hospital Menonita Guayama, about 10 miles. For the Guayama area, see doctor in Guayama.
Cayey's 24-hour pharmacy counter
An open store is not the same as an open pharmacy counter. This one is, per the store's page on October 2, 2026:
Walgreens, 5800 Ave. Jesús T. Piñero, Cayey, 787-263-5166. Store: 24 hours. Counter: 24 hours every day, closed 1:30–2 a.m.
If you go overnight, call first to confirm your medicine is in stock.
For the rest of the island, see our 24-hour pharmacy guide; the Caguas 24-hour counter is on doctor in Caguas.
Community health center: COSSMA Cayey
COSSMA Cayey, Plaza Cayey Shopping Center, Carr 1 Km 55.2, Bo. Montellano, 787-739-8182. Federal HRSA data lists 40 operating hours a week. It is a daytime community health center, not an ER. If you are a patient there and need something after hours that is not an emergency, or a refill that ran out, a video visit is another option.
An aging Cayey: chronic care from home
Cayey has 40,389 residents, and 25.3% are 65 or older (Census, 2024), up from 22.3% in 2020. For many families that means caring for a parent with high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, and driving them to appointments.
By video, the doctor can review blood pressure or sugar readings from home, adjust the plan if appropriate, and give you a lab order for a lab near you. A family member can join the video call. See chronic care, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
