24 hour pharmacy Puerto Rico: five verified all-night pharmacy counters

Every 24 hour pharmacy Puerto Rico has that we could verify is a Walgreens: five pharmacy counters stay open all night, in Guaynabo, Bayamón, Caguas, Cayey and Ponce. Each closes 1:30–2 a.m. for a meal break. Many stores are open 24 hours while their pharmacy counter is not: an open store is not an open pharmacy. Verified October 2, 2026.

  • Walgreens, 5800 Ave Jesús T. Piñero, Cayey, PR 00736, 787-263-5166.

A 24-hour store is not a 24-hour pharmacy

In the tourist areas, "24-hour Walgreens" almost always means the store, not the pharmacy counter where prescriptions are filled. Examples from each store's page, verified October 2, 2026:

  • Walgreens, 1130 Ashford Ave, Condado, 787-721-7895. Store: 24 hours. Pharmacy counter: Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Walgreens, 5984 Ave Isla Verde, Carolina, 787-982-0390. Store: 6 a.m.–midnight. Pharmacy counter: Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

  • Walgreens, 200 Ave Fragoso, Carolina, 787-769-4122. Store: 24 hours. Pharmacy counter: daily 7 a.m.–11 p.m.

  • Walgreens, 2097 and 992 Ave Hostos, Mayagüez, 787-805-4805 and 787-831-9251. Store: 24 hours. Pharmacy counter: until 10 p.m.

  • Walgreens, 16000 Carr 2, Aguadilla, 787-882-8044. Store: 24 hours. Pharmacy counter: Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

Counters that are not 24-hour also close 1:30–2 p.m. for a meal break. Farmacias Caridad has no 24-hour pharmacy counter: some stores, such as Isla Verde (8030 Calle Tartak) and Condado (1307 Ashford Ave), keep the shop floor open 24 hours, but the pharmacy closes in the afternoon or evening, per its store directory as checked on September 30, 2026.

Which one is closest to you?

Where we give a distance, it is the Walgreens locator's straight-line figure, not a drive time:

  • San Juan and Río Piedras: Guaynabo.
  • Carolina, Isla Verde and the airport: Guaynabo or Caguas. See the Isla Verde guide.
  • Bayamón and Cataño: the Route 5 store in Bayamón.
  • Caguas: the Carr 1 store.
  • Fajardo and Ceiba: Caguas (25.7 miles) or Guaynabo (28.8 miles). Heading to Culebra or Vieques? Pick up medicines before the ferry.
  • Humacao: Caguas (15.7 miles) or Cayey (20.9 miles).
  • Ponce and the south: the Emilio Fagot store, 1.9 miles. See the Ponce guide.
  • Mayagüez and Aguadilla: there is no 24-hour counter on the west coast; the nearest is Ponce (36.3 miles from Mayagüez). See the Mayagüez guide.

If you are far away at night, check whether you can wait for a counter near you to open in the morning.

How we help if you need a prescription

Dr. Diana Nieves Castro, a Puerto Rico-licensed general practice physician with several years of emergency-department experience, sees you by video in English or Spanish. If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to your pharmacy. Pick a pharmacy counter that will be open when you request your visit, especially at night. We do not prescribe controlled substances.

Request a visit online 24/7 — we confirm your time by email or text. That does not mean the visit is immediate: if you need a medicine tonight, allow for the visit time and the counter's hours.

A new problem is a US$79 doctor visit. If you forgot or lost a medicine you already take, a refill is a US$49 follow-up visit: see lost prescription in Puerto Rico. You need to be physically in Puerto Rico during the visit, and visitors are welcome: see our care for tourists and visitors. Book a visit.

When it is not a pharmacy problem

If someone took too much of a medicine or the wrong one, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222, which serves Puerto Rico. For trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, chest pain or signs of a stroke, call 911. See when to go to the ER.

How we care for you

  • We evaluate, diagnose and treat; if needed, we give you a lab order for a lab near you.

  • We see adults and children of all ages. Patients under 21: a parent with patria potestad (parental authority) or a legal guardian is on camera for the whole visit and shows photo ID.

  • Real-time video visit. We send you a secure video link. It works on your phone, tablet or computer.

  • If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to your pharmacy. We do not prescribe controlled substances.

  • You must be physically in Puerto Rico during the visit (visitors, tourists and cruise passengers are welcome).

  • In an emergency, call 911.
