The operator's page does not mention an ER or its hours, so we have not confirmed hours: call first if it is not serious.

  • Outside town, the next hospital ER in CMS data is Ryder Memorial in Humacao, about 16 miles in a straight line from Fajardo and about 14 from Ceiba.

Before the Culebra or Vieques ferry: seasickness

Ferries to Culebra and Vieques leave from Ceiba, according to Puerto Rico Ferry. If you get seasick, here is what the CDC advises:

  • Motion-sickness medicine works best taken before you set out, not once you feel sick. Some take from half an hour to several hours to work, and the patch takes 6 to 8 hours.
  • Sit away from the bow, where the boat moves most, and watch the horizon.
  • Don't read or look at your phone during the crossing, and avoid alcohol and smoking.
  • For children, try these measures first; the patch is not used in children.

If you get seasick easily or travel with a child, you can talk to the doctor by video the day before. She evaluates you and, if appropriate, prescribes, and we send the prescription to your pharmacy in Fajardo. Read more about seasickness and care for visitors.

Distances are straight lines, not drive times. We re-check these facts every quarter. For neighboring towns, see Río Grande, Luquillo and Loíza and all areas.
