  • Walgreens, 643 Yauco Plaza II, Yauco, 787-267-5727. Pharmacy counter: every day 8 a.m.–10 p.m. The store is open 6 a.m.–midnight, so you can buy over-the-counter items at night even when the counter is closed.

24-hour counter: Walgreens, 2979 Ave Emilio Fagot, Ponce, 787-841-7400, about 17 miles in a straight line. Open all night except 1:30–2 a.m. If the doctor prescribes after 10 p.m., ask us to send the prescription there.

After the 2020 earthquakes: help for emotional health

On January 7, 2020, the magnitude 6.4 earthquake that shook the southwest was centered 4 km south-southeast of Indios, in Guayanilla, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. FEMA declared the "Puerto Rico Earthquakes" disaster on January 16, 2020, and approved crisis counseling assistance for residents of Guánica, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Ponce, Utuado and Yauco.

Metro Pavia includes it on its list of 24/7 adult ERs, but not on its pediatric ER list. Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Pila in Ponce (787-848-5600) is on that list. With a very sick child, call 911 or ask Pavía Yauco before you go.

How late is the Walgreens pharmacy in Yauco open?
