Wellness retreat for men: 5 days for the man who never stops
A wellness retreat for men is a short, structured pause for someone who has been running on empty for years. THI’s lasts 5 days at a hacienda in Puerto Rico, with a physician licensed in Puerto Rico and a group of 10 people. It is not a bootcamp and it is not therapy. It is open to everyone and held in English.

You have been saying you will stop for years
The alarm goes off and the phone already has three messages. You eat breakfast standing up, drive with your head in the nine o’clock meeting, and reach the evening with just enough energy for the couch. Weekends are errands, backlog and family, who get the best of you you can manage, which is whatever is left.
Carrying on like this has a cost that never shows up on a bill: you sleep in pieces, you move less every year, you eat whatever is nearby, and the checkup waits until work slows down. Work does not slow down. And almost nobody asks how the person everyone leans on is doing.
That is why you searched for a wellness retreat for men. You do not need a promised transformation. You need a few days when nobody asks anything of you, and a team that takes your health seriously. Here is what this is and what it is not. The retreat is held in English.
What “not a bootcamp, not therapy” means
Most people picture one of two extremes. One is a bootcamp with dawn wake-ups, shouting and endurance tests. The other is a circle where you are expected to talk about your childhood in front of strangers. This retreat is neither.
It is not a bootcamp. The movement is mobility and coaching, and sessions are designed to be adjustable: tell us your needs on the application. It is not a competition.
It is not therapy. There is meditation and breathwork, and you take part at the level that feels right. If what you are living with is a crisis or depression, a retreat is not the place to treat it: talk to your doctor or a mental health professional.
It is a pause with structure. Sessions, meals, a physician assessment and time outdoors, with the detail set by each group’s itinerary. It is wellness, not treatment, and it does not promise specific results.
What a day looks like
THI runs an in-person wellness retreat in Puerto Rico: 5 days starting November 15, 2026, with 10 places, at $3,500 per person. Groups start on a regular cadence from that first date. Applications for the first group close November 5, 2026.
Here is what a typical day looks like. It is not a promised schedule, because it depends on each group’s itinerary; see what to expect at the retreat for more.
A typical day, not a fixed schedule (we share the full schedule with accepted guests): gentle morning movement such as gentle stretching and mobility, breakfast together, a medical or education session, free time or an island activity, dinner, and an evening meditation, with phones kept away during sessions and meals.
Sessions are led by: Sessions are led by your mobility coach, your meditation and breathwork guide, and your nutrition guide, alongside Dra. Diana Nieves Castro for the medical side. We introduce the team to accepted guests.
Included in the price:
- Lodging and meals
- A physician assessment, and labs when clinically appropriate
- Mobility coaching, meditation and breathwork, and nutrition sessions
- Island activities and airport transfers
With a physician on the team
The retreat includes Dra. Diana Nieves Castro, a general practice physician licensed in Puerto Rico, who does a physician assessment and orders labs when clinically appropriate. We do not promise specific tests or results.
A physician assessment with Dra. Diana Nieves Castro, MD, and lab work when it is clinically appropriate. She provides all the medical care at the retreat. To see what it covers, read the physician visit and labs.
The retreat does not replace your own doctor, who stays in charge of your care. If you have a health condition, read the retreat with chronic conditions: talk to us first before you apply.
The honest objections
“I will feel out of place.” The retreat is open to everyone, and you will see who is beside you when the group arrives: 10 people at most, not a ballroom of a hundred. We do not ask you to be any particular way. To see whether it fits you, read who the retreat is for.
“I do not know how to do nothing.” It is the most common worry, and a fair one. That is why the day has structure: sessions, meals and optional activities on the island, not whole days in a hammock. You decide how much of each thing you do.
“I do not have 5 days.” It is a short block, much easier to protect on the calendar than two weeks. Putting yourself off also has a cost, and it is one you already know.
“It is a lot of money.” The price is $3,500 per person and it includes lodging, meals, a physician assessment, sessions, activities and transfers, so there is no second bill on the side. For the breakdown, read what a wellness retreat includes and costs. If it is not the right time, we would rather tell you so than push.
“What if I change my mind?” The deposit and cancellation terms are shown on the retreat page and again at secure checkout; read them before you reserve. Separately, if after our medical team’s review the retreat is not suitable for your health, your deposit is refunded. The deposit reserves your place and is paid when you reserve, through secure checkout. The deposit and cancellation terms are on the retreat page and are shown again at checkout.
What you can do outside the sessions
Island activities are possibilities, not a promised program: what your group does depends on the itinerary for your start date, the season and the weather, and each one is optional. Possibilities include snorkeling, kayaking on calm water, a walk in El Yunque rainforest and beach time. Read the guide to El Yunque and Río Grande.
If you want a more active pause, read the guide to the adventure retreat with snorkeling; if you would rather sleep, walk and eat well, read the one on the nature retreat.
The first step
Nobody needs to decide everything today. You read, you ask what you want to ask, and you reserve when you are ready. There are 10 places per group and the closing date is real; that is the only rush there is.
If you are a US citizen, you do not need a passport to travel between the US and Puerto Rico. The first step is small: you reserve your place on the retreat page. Fill in the short form and pay the deposit through secure checkout. Our team then writes to you, and our medical team reviews your health in a private step. The steps are in how to apply to the retreat.
If you are going through a hard time with your mental health, a retreat is not the answer: call or text 988, or call Línea PAS at 1-800-981-0023.
How we care for you
We evaluate, diagnose and treat; if needed, we give you a lab order for a lab near you.
We see adults and children of all ages. Patients under 21: a parent with patria potestad (parental authority) or a legal guardian is on camera for the whole visit and shows photo ID.
Real-time video visit. We send you a secure video link. It works on your phone, tablet or computer.
If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to your pharmacy.
You must be physically in Puerto Rico during the visit (visitors, tourists and cruise passengers are welcome).
In an emergency, call 911.
